This workshop went out to over a thousand attendees at VWO’s Convex 2025 online event. The event was opened by a workshop from yours truly. The workshop was to teach how to break down work processes into workflows, and identify opportunities to leverage AI’s pattern matching capabilities.
You can watch the recording here, while it’s still available (it will likely be removed at some point).
Summary
I started with an intro…
…before getting everyone to intro themselves. This was to test the whiteboard capabilities of Canva. FYI: I found out later that it struggled with the number of users, but was largely usable.

I outlined the scaffold to break down our processes into a broad workflow.

And got everyone to break down our process task, which was to go from analysing user feedback to getting experiment ideas to improve a site.

I then took everyone through a process to create mind maps. This was to get a deeper understanding of how AI thinks (it’s pattern-matching machine).

After we did that, we listed ideas of how we could leverage AI’s capabilities into our workflows.

After that, we briefly introduces Agents and their role in workflows.

We then spoke about tools, and how to incorporate tools into the workflows. Before showing briefly how all these concepts map to n8n in case people wanted to take things further and create automated workflows.
After the event, I had a few people reach out to me. The workshop seemed to resonate for some.
Hi, Iqbal, Thanks for a very practical and helpful session on designing AI workflows. I’ve attended many sessions in the last year and this was by far the most constructive and helpful, breaking down the concepts and applying what was learned. Thank you!
Others got in touch to ask for advice to apply the insights to otehr use-cases. The workshop served as a stepping stone to develop the in-person workshop at Space Academy 2025 in London.
